Continuing on from our earlier post, here are a few more ideas.

4️⃣ Do a regular prayer walk around your office building. Prayer walking helps to increase our awareness of the spiritual needs and situation around us.

Here’s a testimony:

“I took a prayer walk around my office building one morning before work. As I walked, I passed a man sitting on the kerb reading a newspaper. I felt a prompt that this person might have a knee pain and chest pain. However I wasn’t sure and was frankly quite afraid. So I decided to walk on. The prompting remained and I told the Lord that if the person was still there, I would speak to him. I approached him and asked if he experienced those pains and he replied “yes”. I explained that I’m a Christian and I believe Jesus heals and offered to pray for him. He wasn’t keen and declined.”

5️⃣ Start an office prayer or fellowship group.

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.””‭‭ (Matthew‬ ‭18:20‬)

There is power in our small gatherings. In my office, it took me five years working there before I found two other Christians who were keen to reach out to our colleagues. We started a regular fellowship meeting during lunch time where we would invite pre-believers from the office for a free lunch, worship and the sharing of the Gospel.

In Singapore there are many other offices that have such gatherings. To my awareness I’ve heard of them in Prudential, OCBC, JP Morgan and RBS. I’m certain there are more.

If this is something God is prompting in your heart to do, we would love to offer our help and support.

6️⃣ Start or join a marketplace prayer group near your office.

“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication…”‭‭(Acts‬ ‭1:14‬a)

There is power in corporate prayer. Consider joining a prayer group around your area. Start one if that is something God lays into your heart.

If you are interested in joining an existing one, here are a few we are aware of.

  • Telok Ayer Methodist Church, every first Tuesday of the month during lunch time
  • Prayer@Raffles Place, monthly, usually the third Thursday of the month
  • Prayer@Changi Business Park, monthly, usually the fourth or last Thursday of the month

We hope you find these useful. Hopefully they trigger other thoughts or ideas for how you can serve God in the marketplace in your own way!
